PERRY COMO of
Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, began his working life as a barber in his
own hairdressing establishment and it was not until the middle '30's
that he made any noticeable impression as a singer. At this time he
had been engaged as vocalist for Ted Weems and his Orchestra.
In 1942 Perry
Como broke away from the routine of being vocalist with a band to
work on his own. A long term recording contract quickly followed his
solo act début, and he has made a large number of discs during the
past fourteen years.
Perry has a
natural charm and easy relaxed style that has given his work an
individual distinction. He is quick to recognise talent in others
and has given more than a generous helping hand to many less
fortunate than himself.
It was
Perry Como who recommended Frankie Laine to Ted Weems some years
ago, and he has both carefully watched the progress of Eddie
Fisher, and actively guided him to success.
He has
starred in "Something for the Boys", "If I'm Lucky" "Doll
Face", "Words and Music" to name but four of the successful
films with which he made such impact in the middle and late '40's.

Incidentally both the Ray Anthony's and the Vic Damone's have
named their sons Perry, and what could be a nicer tribute than
that show of esteem from four of his fellow artists!
