Notes: introduced by John Tyers in the
Stage Musical "Inside U.S.A." with leading recordings by Perry
for RCA Victor Records and Jo Stafford for Capitol Records. Perry's
recording was first released as the "A" side on the 78 RPM
format with "Carolina Moon" on the flip side. It also appeared
within a limited Special Series of Victor 78 RPM recordings, numerically
listed as 45-0000 through to 45-3999 ( selling for 85¢ U.S. ). The song
appeared within a Special
Double Feature RCA 78 RPM compilation titled "Inside USA" released circa
1948. Features songs from the hit
Broadway show by Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz starring Fred Astaire,
Perry Como and more. Inside U.S.A. was recorded before the show was fully
cast in order to beat the 1948 ASCAP strike, which explains why non-cast
members performed some of these songs.
