This long-play record and compact disc
provides a rare
opportunity to hear how "bad" some of the early "electronically
reprocessed" stereo really was. When Perry's 1958 album "Como's
Golden Records" was reprocessed for stereo in the early 1960s it was
perhaps one of the worst examples possible. It sounded as if he were singing
in a large empty can and this CD provides a unique opportunity to hear this
effect within the compact disc format.
The two real stereo tracks within this
compilation are medium to low grade but, surprisingly, Perry's 1958 hit single
"Mandolins In the Moonlight" appears to be released here in real
stereo for the first time in an album format. Although released originally in
a special series stereo single, on the flip side of "Love Makes The World
Go Round", all known releases since that time have been either monaural
or electronically reprocessed stereo.
