This Gold Standard Series 45 RPM Extended Play compilation
features four of Perry's hit singles. During the
middle 1950s it was common to find songs released within various formats
as gradually the 12" long play record became the album standard.
Perry's first full stereophonic albums were recorded in early 1958 but
there remained a large market for his monaural recordings within other
popular formats. Two of these songs, "Catch a Falling Star" and
"Magic Moments", were recorded in discrete binaural stereo but
were never released as such during the time of their initial popularity.
Perry's performance of "Catch a Falling Star" earned him a
Grammy in 1958 for "Best Male Vocal" and the recording earned
the first certified "Gold"
record ( million selling ) by The Record Industry Association of America
