This compilation recording was released in 1968 at the same time as "The Perry Como Christmas Album" but with limited distribution. It included eight tracks from previously released albums plus four selections from Hugo & Luigi's "The Sounds of Children at Christmas" which had been recorded in 1960 prior to their well known association with Perry as producers for five of his albums during the early 1960s. This particular collection of Christmas songs is fondly remembered by many Como fans and is much sought after. The original Hugo & Luigi album is also quite rare.

Hugo & Luigi produced five of Perry's most memorable RCA Victor albums, beginning with "For The Young at Heart" which was recorded during the late fall of 1960, and ending with "The Songs I Love" which was recorded during the spring of 1963. A very special Christmas album, "The Sound of Children at Christmas," was recorded sometime during 1960 just prior to their close involvement with Perry and his recordings. In 1968 a special compilation album titled "Home for the Holidays" was released which included several tracks from Hugo & Luigi album in combination with some of Perry's previously released Christmas songs plus his original recording of "Ave Maria" recorded nineteen years earlier at the Church of Incarnation, New York City, and one of his earliest recordings with Mitchell Ayres and Ray Charles. The 1968 compilation had very limited distribution but it acquired many fans throughout the years following. A complete listing of this special compilation, as well as the original Hugo & Luigi 1960 album, is included here for the benefit of those who found enjoyment from these recordings. As a matter of interest, the Hugo & Luigi sessions were recorded in Webster Hall with Bob Simpson as recording engineer. Webster Hall was the recording facility for a great many of Perry's recordings and Bob Simpson engineered more of his recordings than any other. Bob Simpson is said to have been a personal "favourite" of Perry and he was one of RCA Victor's premier engineers.
