Nacio Herb Brown ( 1896-1964 )

Born on February 22, 1896 in Deming, New Mexico. Graduated from UCLA. Began composing in the 1920s, and is probably best remembered today for his collaborations with Arthur Freed at MGM. Brown and Freed's first hit was "Wedding of the Painted Doll", used in the film Broadway Melody (1929). Other songs include "Pagan Love Song" (Broadway Melody), "Fit as a Fiddle and Ready for Love" (George White's Music Hall Varieties, 1932) and used in the film Singin' in the Rain (1952), "I'm Feelin' Like a Million" (Broadway Melody of 1938) and "You Are My Lucky Star" (Broadway Melody of 1936 and Singin' in the Rain), as well as those listed below. Brown is a member of the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
